Allegiant Airlines today announced it will expand service to St. Petersburg/Tampa, from Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.

This year, as the airline celebrates its 10th anniversary at ROA with air service to St. Petersburg, it will increase service from seasonal to year round with two flights per week on McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft throughout August and September.

A new holiday tradition is afoot as Roanoke prepares for the grand opening of an ice-skating rink at Elmwood Park. Named for its title sponsor, the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, the new rink will be called “ROA's Elmwood on Ice."

 Following a nationwide search, the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission has selected Bradley A. Boettcher to be the new Director of Marketing and Air Service Development at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA). Boettcher began his new role on September 1, 2015.

Airport and Area Agencies Practice Emergency Response

Roanoke, Virginia – On Saturday morning, September 19, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission will be conducting a live Emergency Response drill that will include fire simulation, injury simulation, and multi-agency response.

The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is proud to announce the recent completion of the Federal Aviation Administration’s annual airfield safety inspection at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. The FAA’s airport certification and safety inspector found zero violations at ROA and commended airport staff for effective day-to-day operations.

Maintenance and cleaning of the tunnel on Airport Road continues into a second phase this Sunday evening, June 14, 2015.  The southbound tunnel (which heads towards Williamson Road) lane will be blocked off and the northbound lane (which heads toward Peters Creek Road) will be routed to accommodate two-way traffic for approximately 30 days.  This is the second phase of the tunnel maintenance and cleaning project.

H. Odell “Fuzzy”Minnix appointed to vice-chair

ROANOKE, Va. (July 28, 2014) – The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission has named W. William “Bill” Gust, Chairman of the Commission for the 2014-2015 term, effective July 22, 2014.

Airport Commission chair, Cynthia Lawrence, announced that Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport Executive Director Jacqueline Shuck has informed the members of the Airport Commission of her desire to retire at the end of 2014.

The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission announces that Ernest C. McLeod, Jr., has joined its staff as Director of Finance. Mr. McLeod will be responsible for accounting, financial planning and analysis, and budgeting for the Commission and all Airport operations.

American Airlines began operating a daily non-stop flight to New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) today. The inaugural flight took off at 6:30 p.m. and arrived in New York at 8:05 p.m. The return flight leaves La Guardia at 4:30 p.m. and arrives in Roanoke at 6:05 p.m. daily.

The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission announces that Kari Dabrowski has joined the staff as Director of Operations and Maintenance for Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. In this role, Dabrowski is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing and directing the Custodial, Facilities, and Operations division for the Commission.
