The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission has named H. Odell “Fuzzy” Minnix, Chairman of the Commission for the 2015-2016 term, effective July 21, 2015.
Mr. Minnix, a County of Roanoke appointee, served on the airport Commission from 1992 to 1994 and has currently been on the Commission since 2006. He has worked in the aviation field for many years, including service in the United States Air Force, air traffic controller, and FAA regional supervisor. Mr. Minnix is very active in the community, serving on many boards and commissions including serving on the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors from 1992-2003.He is currently serving on the Western Virginia Water Authority, Roanoke County School Board, the Bioethics Committee at Lewis Gale Hospital, the Board of Directors of the Roanoke City Governor’s School and the Board of Directors of Camp Tuk-A-Way in Blacksburg, VA.
Minnix replaces W. William Gust as Chair of the Commission.
Dr. John Dooley has been named Vice-Chair.
The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is the five-member governing body for Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. The Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport is the primary air carrier airport for southwest Virginia. ROA moves over 600,000 passengers per year via four airlines with nonstop service to eight hub cities.
