New Route Expands Allegiant's 19-Year Partnership with Roanoke

Roanoke, Va. – Roanoke Blacksburg Regional Airport and the Taubman Museum of Art unveiled a striking new art installation featuring a life-size pop-up book by artist Colette Fu in the airport’s baggage claim area, marking a new chapter for the region to engage visitors with the arts.

Travel trends are once again predicting one of the busiest holiday travel seasons on record. TSA is projecting to screen over 18 million passengers across the country from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2.

In compliance with federal regulations, 49 CFR Part 26, the Airport is developing its FY 2025-27 Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program goal update.

The Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise on Sept. 19, 2024, from approximately 10 a.m. to noon at the former Countryside Golf Club. The drill will include fire and injury simulation and multi-agency response.

Airport Road Tunnel

Routine maintenance and cleaning of the Airport Road tunnel in Roanoke will begin Monday, Aug. 26, and is anticipated to run through Friday, Aug. 30.

The first-ever Southwest Virginia Plane Pull will take place on Sept. 28, 2024, at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. The event will benefit Special Olympics Virginia.

Teams of 25 will come together to pull an 82-ton FedEx airplane a distance of 12 feet on the Airport's cargo apron.

ROANOKE, Va. (Aug. 15, 2023) – Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport Executive Director Mike Stewart was named 2023 Virginia Airport Manager of the Year by the Virginia Department of Aviation.
