Redesign improves site navigation making information clear and easy to find
Roanoke, Va. (September 5, 2014) – Roanoke‐Blacksburg Regional Airport announces the redesign of its website www.flyroa.com and launch of a new homepage flight tracking service which makes monitoring arrivals, departures and routes easier and more efficient for travelers.
The ADA‐compliant website has undergone a complete redesign, the most comprehensive change to the site in 6 years, to improve navigation and focus on elements identified as most important to site visitors. A study of visitor trends over a 12‐month period showed that obtaining flight status information is the number one driver for visiting flyroa.com, closely followed by reading news generated by the Airport and the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission.
The website now offers a more reliable flight monitoring service than in the past. During inclement weather, monitoring flights is of particular importance for the region's passengers. The improved service will provide friends and family greeting travelers at the airport, as well as the customers themselves with up to date, dependable information. The new flight tracker offers real‐time updates and an expanded homepage view of upcoming arrivals and departures. Additionally, visitors can view current weather conditions at the Airport and security line wait times directly from the home screen. Other website improvements include clearly displayed contact information for airline customer service, ground transportation services and area hotels. Terminal and parking maps also make it easier for passengers to plan ahead for their time at the airport.
A mobile‐friendly version of the site was also created, to allow visitors access to the flight tracker and other pertinent airport information directly from their smart phone or tablet device.
