The Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport continues to see 2018 traffic increase with May traffic up 13.9% on a year over year basis. May 2018 saw 61,261 passengers fly via ROA compared to 53,772 in May of 2017 an increase of 7,489 passengers.

Airport Swears in Captains of Public Safety Today

Today the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission will swear in two Captains in the Public Safety Department at 12:30 p.m. at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.  This is part of an ongoing process in developing a fully staffed department responsible for maintaining public safety and offering firefighting and EMS services.

Passenger Growth Continues at ROA in 2017

For the sixth consecutive month the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport posted a year over year increase in passengers utilizing the facility.  February 2017 data showed a 5.8% increase in guests flying into and out of the airport compared to 2016.

Traditionally a slower month, February passenger numbers resulted in the highest passenger demand since 2013.

Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport Posts Air Traffic Growth for 2016

The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is pleased to   announce that passenger traffic increased by 1.95% for the calendar year 2016 over 2015, the increase resulted in 608,288 passengers using the airport in 2016. The growth translated to an increase of 11,617 passengers over the 596,671 who used the facility in 2015. The increase in passenger traffic was the first increase since 2011.

Roanoke Regional Airport Commission Announces Additional Non-Stop Service to New York City

The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is pleased to  announce that American Airlines will add a second non-stop daily departure to New York City’s La Guardia airport from Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional airport effective January 9, 2017.  The additional flight will increase service to twice daily Monday – Friday and once daily on Saturday and Sunday.

Allegiant Airlines Expands St.Petersburg/Tampa Service

Allegiant Airlines today announced it will expand service to St. Petersburg/Tampa, from Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.

This year, as the airline celebrates its 10th anniversary at ROA with air service to St. Petersburg, it will increase service from seasonal to year round with two flights per week on McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft throughout August and September.

Roanoke Welcomes a New Holiday Tradition

A new holiday tradition is afoot as Roanoke prepares for the grand opening of an ice-skating rink at Elmwood Park. Named for its title sponsor, the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, the new rink will be called “ROA's Elmwood on Ice."

Roanoke Regional Airport Commission Appoints H. Odell “Fuzzy” Minnix to Chairman

The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission has named H. Odell “Fuzzy” Minnix, Chairman of the Commission for the 2015-2016 term, effective July 21, 2015.

New Traffic Pattern for Airport Road Tunnel

Maintenance and cleaning of the tunnel on Airport Road continues into a second phase this Sunday evening, June 14, 2015.  The southbound tunnel (which heads towards Williamson Road) lane will be blocked off and the northbound lane (which heads toward Peters Creek Road) will be routed to accommodate two-way traffic for approximately 30 days.  This is the second phase of the tunnel maintenance and cleaning project.
