Read more...For the sixth consecutive month the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport posted a year over year increase in passengers utilizing the facility. February 2017 data showed a 5.8% increase in guests flying into and out of the airport compared to 2016.
Traditionally a slower month, February passenger numbers resulted in the highest passenger demand since 2013.

The growth translated to an increase of 11,617 passengers over the 596,671 who used the facility in 2015. The increase in passenger traffic was the first increase since 2011.

The southbound tunnel (which heads towards Williamson Road) lane will be blocked off and the northbound lane (which heads toward Peters Creek Road) will be routed to accommodate two-way traffic for approximately 30 days. This is the second phase of the tunnel maintenance and cleaning project.
