ROA's Matt Humphreys Named Operator of the Year at 2024 International Aviation Snow Symposium
Matt Humphreys, equipment mechanic at the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission, was recently named Operator of the Year for Small Airports at the 2024 Northeast Chapter - American Association of Airport Executives (NEC/AAE) International Aviation Snow Symposium.
Humphreys was recognized for his dedication to operational excellence in all facets of snow removal at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. His deep snow equipment expertise and experience are key contributors to the Airport’s snow removal efforts.
With an emphasis on safety, Humphreys leads snow equipment training on the airfield and landside. During snow events, he is often the first to arrive, ensuring equipment is ready to run before deployment, and the last to leave, double-checking equipment is functioning at peak performance for the next run.
Leveraging his experience, Humphreys can also be found on the airfield in the lead broom truck guiding the snow team and setting the pace to maximize efficient snow removal operations.
