American Airlines announces new nonstop service from ROA to Dallas Fort Worth
Today American Airlines is announcing the addition of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to its list of nonstop destinations from Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport (ROA).
The new year-round daily service will help enhance access to American’s global network and connect regional businesses to national and international markets. American’s DFW hub will provide one-stop connections to exciting destinations across the Southwestern United States and Mexico, as well Tokyo, Seoul, Honolulu, Maui, and more.
Daily service to DFW will begin June 5, 2026, departing ROA at 7 a.m. The first flight from DFW arrives on June 4, 2026, at 10:59 p.m. American plans to operate the service with the dual-class CRJ-900 aircraft.
“This is a banner moment for ROA and our entire region. For years, government leaders, the business community, and leisure travelers have requested Dallas Fort Worth service and better connectivity to the west. This announcement is the product of long-term collaboration among regional champions and the flying public who continue to choose to Fly ROA,” said Mike Stewart, Executive Director of the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission. “Special thanks go to all the partners who have stepped forward as local match guarantors to help incentivize this new service and the businesses and higher education institutions who sent hundreds of letters in support of DFW service. We also share our appreciation to American Airlines for their continued investments in ROA.”
“American is proud to offer more flights at ROA than any other airline and we’re excited to continue investing in this community with new nonstop service to DFW,” said Tracy Montross, American’s Managing Director of Government Affairs. “With American now offering service from ROA to our hubs in Dallas-Fort Worth, Charlotte, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia, local residents have convenient one-stop access to hundreds of destinations around the world. We look forward to welcoming the community on our flights next summer.”
“We are thrilled American will be bringing Dallas Forth Worth service to ROA. The connectivity DFW offers for the business community is second-to-none. Air travel reflects our region’s strength and vibrancy, and this announcement sends a clear signal: The Roanoke-Blacksburg region matters. The news is a tangible reflection of ROA’s Fly for the Future campaign – flying ROA now helps grow air service, airport resources, and infrastructure improvements over the long-term,” said Eric Sichau, President and CEO of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce.
“This new non-stop service from Roanoke to Dallas Fort Worth is an important investment in our region’s future. Reliable air connectivity strengthens our economy, supports local employers, and helps attract new businesses and talent,” said Delegate Terry Austin. “This announcement reflects the momentum ROA is building and the growing demand for convenient travel options in our community.”
“Expanding non-stop air service is about more than convenience – it’s about connecting the greater Roanoke region to opportunity,” said Senator Chris Head. “This new route will make it easier for residents to travel, for businesses to compete, and for visitors to experience everything the Roanoke Valley has to offer. It’s a meaningful step forward for ROA and the region it serves.”
“This announcement is the result of strong collaboration and a shared vision for regional growth. Adding non-stop service to Dallas Fort Worth enhances ROA’s role as a critical economic engine and transportation hub. I’m proud to support efforts that improve access, strengthen our community, and position the Roanoke region for long-term success,” said Delegate Sam Rasoul.
